There is Good News In an Economic Downturn
Financial news is front and center now as the world economy enters a new cycle--and no one seems to know where it is really going. As an optimist, I tend to see all shifts as positive in the long run, but the short run can be a bit dicey.
Most of the news has to do with corporate-based information, a standard by which many measure the health of the economy. But from everything I read, life is getting uncomfortable for a lot of just plain folks. * Median income is down * Unemployment is rising along with living costs * It takes longer for white collar workers to find a job than it has in the past * Houses are losing their value
So where is the good news? How can one feel optimistic in the face of all the gloomy news?
One of the advantages of being a long-time entrepreneur is that you have to learn how to ride through ups and downs. There is no such thing as a straight ride up. There's an ebb and flow. Survival depends on learning how to make adjustments during the ebb.
The good news is that no matter what your financial situation, the current downturn presents the perfect opportunity for evaluating your habitual financial behaviors and making some conscious decisions about how you want to proceed in the future.
And you can be sure that as the future unfolds, the markets and the economy will rebound, although probably not as quickly as you might like.
Of utmost importance is not wallowing in fear, disappointment, and worry, none of which can move your forward. These emotions can only hold you back. You can find the key to a more comfortable future by reaching down into your Self and finding the strength lying dormant there then creating a strategy and taking action. Sitting still in denial and vagueness, waiting to be rescued does not solve problems.
What are your options? Here are a few: 1. Change the energy flow in your life. De-clutter you home and office, opening up space for new energy to come in. Exercise. Eat healthy foods. Take deep breaths. Stay away from negative people. (Listen to the audio, It's All about Energy Flow at http://prosperityplace.com/articles/energyflow_audio.html )
2. Pay close attention to your cash flow. When things get tight, people tend to ignore their bank accounts. However, when cash gets tight, it's even more important to pay attention and make conscious spending decisions. If discomfort pops up when dealing with your money, pay attention to the discomfort and find out what you are feeling. These feelings have nothing to do with the money, you've been carrying them around for years. 3. Spend less. If you feel deprived, that too is an old feeling you are carrying with you and one that possibly got you into your current position and led to overspending. Read Exercise 3 and Exercise 6 in Build Your Money Muscles http://ProsperityPlace.com/bymm
4. Earn more Uncover ways to make some extra money. Sites like ebay provide easy ways for people to turn stuff that's lying around creating clutter into cash. If you are determined to find more money, you will. If you just worry about what's happening, you won't. 5. Educate yourself Learn about finances, money management, and debt relief. There are plenty of sites filled with good advice and information. You'll find some helpful basics in Build Your Money Muscles http://ProsperityPlace.com/bymm
The bottom line is take action even though you might feel like hiding under the covers until it all passes. The fact is that plenty of people make good money during tough times. It may seem as if you are a victim of the economy, but in reality, there is plenty ofopportunity succeed if you put your mind to it and take action. ++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++
